Our editorial standards
We hold our calculators and guides to a simple standard: be accurate, be clear, and put the reader's interest first.
Accuracy first
Every calculator is built on standard financial formulas and tested against worked examples. Guides are researched against primary sources — lender practice, government program rules and established financial mathematics — and we explain our reasoning rather than asking you to take a number on faith.
Independence
Our calculations are never influenced by advertisers or partners. The formulas are fixed and documented in our methodology. If we ever feature a product or service, it is labelled clearly and does not change the math.
Clarity over jargon
Mortgages are complicated enough. We write in plain English, define terms the first time we use them, and link to our glossary so nothing is left unexplained.
Review and updates
Content is reviewed before publication and revisited as rates, limits and rules change. Significant updates are reflected in the "updated" date on each guide. We aim to keep time-sensitive figures current and flag where you should confirm the latest number with a lender.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it. If you spot an error in a calculation or an article, contact us and we will investigate and correct it promptly.
Not financial advice
Our content is educational and general. It is not personalised financial, tax or legal advice. See our disclaimer for the full statement.
